Holiday Jump – 75 years of the SWR Big Band

Big anniversary open-air celebration on Stuttgart's Killesberg The SWR Big Band is celebrating its 75th anniversary and inviting audiences to the next highlight of its anniversary year: at the first "Holiday Jump" on Stuttgart's Killesberg, the Bürger Freilichtbühne becomes the stage for an extraordinary summer night of music. Together with numerous high-profile guests, the SWR Big Band presents an open-air experience full of energy, musical variety, and great voices. Under the musical direction of Magnus Lindgren, artist in residence of the SWR Big Band, a program is created that playfully crosses musical boundaries. The audience can look forward to a unique mix of soul, pop, jazz, swing, rock, and schlager, performed by outstanding artists. Guests include Max Mutzke, Fola Dada, Dieter Thomas Kuhn, Fools Garden, Ida Sand, John Beasley, Joo Kraus, and Jakob Manz. Together with the SWR Big Band, they create an evening that impressively shows the ensemble's stylistic range and international class. Against the atmospheric backdrop of the Bürger Freilichtbühne, "Holiday Jump" becomes a big big-band party for the whole family: from soulful groove to rousing schlager to Grammy-nominated jazz and swing. In doing so, the SWR Big Band once again underlines its claim to rank among the best big bands in the world. "Holiday Jump" is also the perfect start to the summer holidays in Baden-Württemberg - a musical celebration that turns Wednesday evening on the Killesberg into an unforgettable experience.

Children's Wishes on the Move

Children's Wishes on the Move: SOS Children's Village Munich and Deutsche Post staff give children a voice How can children and young people get the support they need for their development? With the campaign “Children's Wishes on the Move,” SOS Children's Village Munich, together with employees of Deutsche Post, is drawing attention to concrete projects for children and young people. On their bike tour across Germany, employees of Deutsche Post receive a child's wish from SOS Children's Village Munich and hand it over to Verena Dietl, the Third Mayor of the City of Munich - linked to a call on companies, clubs and citizens to make the project possible through donations and support. Date: 29 July 2026 Time: 10 am Place: Pariser Platz, 70173 Stuttgart Schedule: • Welcome by SOS Children's Village • Reception of the Deutsche Post cycling team • Handover of the child's wish to City Councilor Anita von Brühl • Joint presentation of the children and youth project • Call for support for the project • Photo session and interview options Background Under the motto “Children's Wishes on the Move,” Deutsche Post employees cycle across Germany from 27 July to 5 August 2026. The aim of the campaign is to draw attention to the wishes and needs of children and young people in facilities of SOS Children's Village e.V. and to gain support for concrete local projects. The roughly 1,100-kilometer tour leads through six cities: Munich, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Lügde, Salzgitter and Bernburg. The donation phase that follows runs until 16 September 2026. The results will be announced around World Children's Day on 20 September. Interview partners on site • Anja Schrade, SOS Children's Village Stuttgart • Deutsche Post cycling team • City Councilor Anita von Brühl

Mayerling

Mayerling looks behind the shining facade of the Danube monarchy. At the center of the large cast of characters is Crown Prince Rudolf. Desperate for love, crushed by expectations and caught up in intrigue, the heir to the throne ends up ill and obsessed with death. His madness strikes a chord with 17-year-old Mary Vetsera, who is completely devoted to him. At the hunting lodge of Mayerling, Rudolf finally shoots first his seductive lover and then himself. “Dear revolver, not poison” - Vetsera really did leave a message for Crown Prince Rudolf in an ashtray in 1889. Thanks to Kenneth MacMillan's gift for storytelling, the ballet's historically documented background unfolds on stage as a chronicle of destruction. The British choreographer is regarded as a mast

New from May 13: Meditative Dance for the Bereaved

The group "Meditative Dance for the Bereaved" is aimed at people who want to embrace on their path through grief the chance to experience the healing rhythm of life again through circle dance and exchange of thoughts. Feeling the rhythm of life, perceiving oneself as alive, is not always possible in the time of grief for a loved one. But at some point we can take the first, hesitant steps again and dare to return to life. We invite you to get moving through dance and give expression to our many feelings. Short texts, poems, and our own thoughts can additionally encourage us to enter into new contact with ourselves, our fellow human beings and the world. In doing so, we practice mindful interaction with one another and support each other, in both the literal and figurative sense. No prior dance experience is required. Location: TrauerZentrum Hospiz St. Martin, Karl-Pfaff-Str. 48, 70597 Stuttgart-Degerloch Registration: [email protected] or 0711-652907-0 (administration) Registration deadline: every Monday, 2 days before the group evening Dates 2026: 13.05., 17.06., 29.07., 30.09., 14.10., 11.11., 09.12.
