Inspiration from the variety of nature – Creative printing with foam rubber

On a walk around the bioversum, we gather inspiration from leaves, bark, and the small and perhaps larger animals we see. We then make printing plates from foam rubber, which we use to create our own nature picture. Do you want to join in?

NELSON LATIF & MARIANO GONZÁLEZ - Choro Samba and Brazilian Jazz

The musicians Nelson Latif and Mariano González from São Paulo are representatives of Brazil's rich instrumental music. Mariano González is especially devoted to the percussive music of Africa and the Latin American diaspora. His study and research trips took him to Brazil, Cuba, Nigeria, South Africa, Mozambique, and Kenya. At Utrecht University, he earned a doctorate in musicology and linguistics on the drum languages of the Yoruba in Nigeria. Nelson Latif reflects in his music the cultural diversity and openness that shaped São Paulo in the 1980s. Deeply rooted in jazz, choro, and classical music, he developed a distinctive style that combines virtuosic melodic lines with rhythmic finesse. His musical expression moves between the lightness of choro, jazz-inspired improvisation, and the intensity of flamenco. For some pieces, the Brazilian singer Nana Pastorello will join them.

KONGERO - Folk'appella from Sweden

Kongero is a Swedish vocal group made up of the three folk singers Lotta Andersson, Emma Björling, and Anna Wikénius. Kongero was founded in 2005, when the original members were all attending a Nordic folk music conference. By chance, they started singing together and found that their voices harmonized perfectly. Kongero tells stories from life, fascinates with moving love songs, dramatic medieval ballads, witty songs, and lively dances. With confidence, technical skill, irresistible playfulness, and brilliant arrangements, they create a unique sound that brings traditional music from the past into the present. Ink, dye, quill - We carve a goose quill and write with homemade charcoal ink

How does it actually work to write with a goose quill and ink? First we take a closer look at the feathers (or rather under the binocular microscope) and carry out experiments on capillary action. We carve writing quills and make our own ink so we can try it right away. Or is it better to write with bamboo and glass nibs? Just try it out!
