30 July 2026 | Charles Pasi | Theater square Jena Strikes one right away: someone is sitting by a campfire and playing guitar with feeling. Or: someone is sitting by a campfire and making a joyful sound with the harmonica. Also good: someone is sitting by a campfire and singing so well that it goes under your skin. Okay, the campfire is not really needed, but the fact is: this French musician brings out each of these gifted talents - and he can write too. Charles Pasi comes from Paris, has Italian roots on his father's side and French roots on his mother's side - and probably thought at 17 that gospel singing and harmonica were a pretty good start for a music career. So it came to pass that he was trained, among other places, at one of Europe's most renowned music colleges, the Saint Louis College of Music, and from then on built a substantial career as a live musician. His music is inspired by Bob Dylan and Neil Young, lands somewhere between blues, soul, rock, pop, jazz and world music, and what can one say: Pasi simply does his thing well in this genre-crossing sound field. His music took him from Paris to Rome and back to Paris, from small clubs to large festival stages - all the way to a record deal with Blue Note Records and several successful albums. Charles Pasi has shared the stage with artists such as Santana, Lenny Kravitz and Neil Young, toured half the world, and yet stayed true to himself: curious, open and hard to fit into any box. His current album Adamas stands for exactly this attitude - versatile, intense and full of energy. And as it should be: live, the Franco-Italian is of course worthy of admiration. The only thing that seems doubtful is this: he apparently never runs out of breath. He sings, hosts, plays his harmonica and delights with guitar. The whole thing is amplified live with a band and in the end it just sounds good. And…
